Music Exurbia presents Vada City and is here to promote music in Nevada Missouri, and its surrounding areas. Promote events in towns that the page calls "Our Towns". Here are some of the projects that are currently going on that we support or host.
"Music on the Square": The most important, uplifting, electric, energetic, magnetic, and social fundraising event and concert will present itself to the Vernon County area public for FREE on the first Thursday evening of each month May through September on the Nevada Missouri square. Bring a chair or blanket and come hang out on the south side of the Vernon County couthouse lawn! Music will be brought to life from 6 until 8 pm. Some stores and restaurants downtown will stay open and there are some vendors fundraising and selling concessions. The event showcases local, regional and occasionally national songwriters and original bands at each event. Also if there is a 5th Thursday "Music on the Square" will be held. If there is ever rain the event will be held inside of Christ's Church of Nevada.
"Music at the Winery": Once a month on a Saturday and Every 2nd and 4th Thursday will host live music from area songwriters from 6-8pm April through October at the DeLaney Vineyard and Winery in Nevada, Mo.
"Music on the Move": The 3rd Thursday each week "Music on the Square" will move somewhere different the location will be a surprise each time and will be announced just a few days prior each week.
Local Ear: This is where the history is archived and was the forerunner of Vada City. Local Ear was a newszine, a radio show, a blog, and now has primarily become a historical archive.
"Songwriter Lunch Club" (SLC): The SLC meets once a month at lunch time to feature area songwriters with two songs each of their original compositions. Currently the Club is meeting at the Art Shop on the last Wednesday of each month from Noon-1 p.m. it is FREE to attend and each person responsible for their own lunch can bring a sac lunch or order take out/delivery from one of the nearby restaurants. There is a little bit of social time at the beginning and Q & A after each songwriter.
Collision in the Cage: A non music event held in El Dorado Springs several times a year. MMA Cage fights are held at the community Center and Televised on Fidelity Local 6.
Dangerous Doug Harper: An area singer songwriter musical minimalist that performs around the area and promotes shows with Doug Harper Promotions and Doug Harper Musical Services. He also records his music on the local label Purple Shed Records.
